Art@mode: The design process

Harmony, Passion, and a Challenge

In late October 2020, during the height of the lockdown, I received a message from Cinzia, requesting that I create a website for her school, Art@mode. Initially, I hesitated, as I hadn’t worked on a website in over six years. However, I accepted the challenge with some reservations.

A few days later, during a video call, I was struck by Cinzia’s enthusiasm and positive outlook, despite the challenges of the lockdown. Her energy was contagious, and I quickly realized that before anything else, we needed to create an image that truly reflected the spirit of Art@mode.

School, Work, and a Creative Hub

Art@mode is dedicated to teaching the fashion system through both long-term professional courses and short courses focused on technique and creativity, open to everyone. Within the school, there are two key creative spaces: Art-Lab, a fashion laboratory, and Concept_Box, a place where various forms of art converge, creating synergies. One such synergy is “Vestiti d’Artista,” a unique fashion line of one-of-a-kind garments.

The Creative Symbol

Inspired by the need for a symbol that resonates with creativity, we chose the light bulb—an iconic representation of ideas. The Art@mode light bulb is a distinctive design, featuring a pin and mannequin within the bulb, encircled by a tape measure, with a spool of thread and needle as its base.

The “Splat” of colours, named after the sound of paint hitting a canvas, symbolizes three core aspects of the fashion world: illuminating yellow for the light of inspiration, energetic crimson red for creativity and passion, and resilient green, representing hope and a vision for the future—especially in the students.
